2011 Shiner Rising Star!

Congratulations to Blackbird Sing!!


The Shiner Rising Star competition came to an end Thursday night at Love & War in Texas (Plano). We had five great bands competing one last time and many celebrity judges such as Rodney Parker, Coach Joe Avezzano and Donnie Nelson along with Range personalities Brett Dillon and Chuck Taylor. Each band put on a great show but Blackbird Sing came out on top, winning the competition! The van they rode up in on wheels of hope and dreams turned into a party bus all the way back to San Antonio after winning a record label deal from Shiner Records and a complete band outfit from GP Percussions and Kona Guitars! A huge thank you goes out to Kona and GP for helping KHYI and Shiner Records put this on!

Shiner Rising Star FINALE!!

Last Thursday night was our last regular week of the Shiner Rising Star competition – Congrats Brad Dunn & Ellis County for making it into the Final Round! Don’t forget to join us this Thursday, October 20th as we wrap up the competition and the final bands compete one last time! Here is all the information for the Final Round of Shiner Rising Star:

WHO: THE TOP 4 BANDS + 1 WILD CARD BAND-
Sidekick Mafia (Round 2, Week 1 Pick)
Blackbird Sing (Round 2, Week 2 Pick)
Pearl Street Riot (Round 2, Week 3 Pick)
Brad Dunn & Ellis County (Round 2, Week 4 Pick)
Dustin Perkins Band (Wild Card Pick)

WHAT: SHINER RISING STAR FINALE!!

WHERE: LOVE & WAR PLANO
601 E. Plano Parkway
Plano, TX 75074

WHEN: OCTOBER 20th, 2011 @ 7PM

WHY: ONE of the above bands will win a Record Label deal with Shiner Records and the entire band will be outfitted by Kona Guitars and GP Percussions!

HOW: After 12 weeks of this, I’m sure everyone knows how this will go down. Each band will have 25 minutes to set up, jam out and break down on stage. (Going over the time limit will disqualify the band from being judged.) Each judge will go over the highs and lows they found in each band and the Shiner Rising Star winner will be announced THAT NIGHT!

This will be the biggest night of Shiner Rising Star thus far- don’t miss out!  See y’all Thursday!!

Shiner Rising Star Round 2, Week 4!

It's the LAST WEEK of Round 2 in the Shiner Rising Star competition! We've got two more great bands competing to make it into the FINAL ROUND going on next week- This week is Jeremy Phifer v. Brad Dunn and Ellis County! We'll be at Southern Junction in Rockwall from 8:00-10:00pm. Bring the family and friends and we'll see you there!
