Grant Jones

Born and raised outside Brownwood Texas, Grant Jones was raised in the country on a healthy diet of Alabama & Keith Whitley. After moving to Denton, TX in 1998 Grant discovered the Alternative-Country styling of bands like Son Volt and Slobberbone. Grant played for years in Denton and released an extremely successful solo record titled “Close Your Eyes and Smile”. In 2006 Grant teamed up with musicians Ace McNeely (R.I.P), Rob Schumacher and Miles Penhall to form The Pistol Grip Lassos. Jones & The Pistol Grip Lassos have been playing together continuously for 4 years in venues throughout Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas and Louisiana. They recently took honors in 2009 Shiner Bock Rising Star Competition. Beating out beat out over 400 bands in a 3-month competition. Grant Jones & The Pistol Grip Lassos earned a Recording Contract through Shiner/Palo Duro Records and their first single “Since I Lost You” has been in heavy rotation on the Radio in North Texas since July 2010. Reminiscent of Bruce Springsteen, Robert Earl Keen and The Drive-By Truckers, Grant’s songs paint a vivid picture of small town life in a not-so-perfect world.
